Freestyle IT hails 'best ever' quarter
HP and VMware partner posts 79 per cent rise in turnover
Everett: VDI is a sensible alternative to a straight PC refresh
Freestyle IT has become the latest VAR to see signs of green shoots after closing the books on what it claims is its best ever quarter.
Founded eight years ago by two former Repton employees, the HP and VMware partner saw first-quarter sales spike 79 per cent annually to £1.63m. Gross profit as a percentage of revenue also rose due to a greater focus on technical services.
Director Warwick Everett said the firm, which started life as a Compaq house, is moving more aggressively into the virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) space in 2010.
“We have our own virtualisation demo suite at our offices in Hook where we are able to demonstrate the full range of VMware, Microsoft and Citrix products,” he said.
“We are seeing most interest at the moment in VDI as a sensible alternative to a straight PC refresh for those customers who have postponed buying new hardware whilst the economic outlook has been so fragile.”
Everett said the upturn in sales would kickstart Freestyle IT’s plans to grow its technical services and sales team.
