Chess and Azzurri shoot into Deloitte's Fast 50

Acquisitive VARs hail entry into the list of fastest-growing technology companies in the UK and Ireland

Two of the channel’s most bullish and acquisitive communications VARs, Chess Telecom and Azzurri, have made it on the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 for the UK and Ireland’s fastest-growing technology companies.

Chess, which has made 16 acquisitions in the past 30 months entered the list in 28th position, while Azzurri, which has made 16 acquisitions to date, was ranked 49th.

Other channel entries on the list, which is based on average percentage revenue growth over five years, included reseller Comtec Enterprises at 4th and Bracknell-based TNS Distribution at 27th.

David Pollock, chief executive of Chess, told CRN: “Being ranked as 28th in Deloitte’s 50 fastest growing technology companies in the UK is a great achievement and testament to the hard work and success of everyone at Chess. We have shown consistent growth over the past five years and have embraced new technologies.”

Pollock added: “We want to strengthen and grow our partner channel over the next 12 months. Partners can benefit from supplying our converged voice, data and mobile solutions.”

Pollock said it is important Chess gets the right profile of partner on board. Data resellers are very much a part of the firm’s recruitment plans.

“IT resellers are missing a trick by not offering converged solutions, such as the ones Chess offers,” he said.

Pollock added that acquisitions will also continue to play a central role in Chess’ future plans.

Martin St Quinton, chief executive of Azzurri, said: “Our placement in the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 follows a great year for us. We are delighted to have the endorsement.”

Simon Kerton-Johnson, chairman of Deloitte’s UK and Ireland Fast 50, said: “Growing the top line enough to make the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 is especially meaningful during such competitive times for the technology sector.”
