Target hits the spot with OCZ

Distributor builds its memory portfolio by partnering with specialist vendor OCZ

Target and OCZ Technology have reached a distribution agreement

Target Components has kicked off its plans to develop its memory business by signing a UK distribution agreement with memory maker OCZ.

Under the terms of the deal the distributor will supply the vendor’s CPU, cooling, memory and power supply ranges, with immediate effect.

The vendor, which also works with several other distributors in the UK including Micro P, is also gearing up to launch a new budget range of memory in 2009.

Caroline Spillane, marketing manager at Target Components, said: “We were approached a couple of months ago by OCZ and its products fit very much in line with how we see ourselves developing as a player in the memory market. We are hoping that the name will drive more resellers to us as well.”

Spillane said part of the attraction for OCZ was Target’s online facilities that enable resellers to download sales leaflets for its vendor product lines.

Despite gloomy predictions for the memory market in 2009, Spillane said Target is feeling confident for the year ahead.

“We see memory as an area of development for us and are feeling very confident,” she said.

OCZ was unavailable for comment.
