Vendor appoints Websense veteran to spearhead its channel sales drive

Identity management vendor BeyondTrust is cementing its commitment to the channel by appointing industry stalwart Geoff Haggart as president of international sales.

Before taking the role, Haggart was senior vice president of international sales at Websense.

Part of his remit is to further establish BeyondTrust’s global reseller programme, and lead local training, education and certification programmes in every region.

John Mutch, chief executive of BeyondTrust, said: “Our international expansion is being driven by demand from our Global 2000 customer base. They are telling us that BeyondTrust’s initiatives in privilege identity management and virtualisation are critical to their IT infrastructure security and compliance initiatives.

“We are investing in a global value-added reseller channel to provide worldwide training, education and support for these initiatives. Haggart has a sustained track record of building channel relationships and high performance international organisations. We have please to have him join us to lead our international team.”

Haggart revealed the channel recruitment drive for BeyondTrust would be stepping up a notch, as the firm looks to its existing territories such as the UK, Italy, Spain, Germany and also into new territories in France, Benelux, the Nordic countries and the Middle East.

“With businesses upgrading to Windows 7, the rationale for privilege identity management is easy to communicate, and the need for BeyondTrust’s PowerBroker for Desktop clear, so we want to make our Windows channel as wide and deep as possible with two-tier distribution, as quickly as possible," he said.

BeyondTrust’s move has been welcomed by its channel partners.

Jim Harvey, sales manager at Arc Technology Distribution said. “Arc is very excited to be selected to take this product into the UK Market, and via our parent group, Exclusive Networks into Europe. Arc Technology gives Beyond Trust access to a wide range of proactive partners, including the Microsoft LARs, along with more specialist resellers and security practices or consultants.
