Morse goes on the march

Corporate VAR launches data storage migration service

Corporate VAR Morse has hoisted its services sail with the launch of a new data storage migration service offering firms the use of multiple-vendor kit.

After admitting last month that its infrastructure business was beginning to lag, Morse stated that services will play an "increasingly important role in the business".

The VAR claimed its new UK storage service largely reduced the risk and cost associated with storage migration.

"Users are looking for the same features as enterprise storage products but want to take advantage of various vendors' equipment, which could be offered at a lower price," said Martin Davies, managing consultant at Morse.

The migration service supports all operating systems and permits end-users to run migration tasks in sections and keep the network online, or migrate the data in a single operation offline.

Hamish MacArthur, chief executive of analyst MacArthur Stroud International, said: "Data integrity is an important transition point. If you offer an alternative storage supplier then you also need to be able to offer a migration service. Morse has found an effective way to do this."
