Object-Matrix forms creative backup partnership
Caerphilly does it with Mac-based digital file storage collaboration
The proliferation of rich-media imagery in ever-more applications, such as digital signage, represents challenges for file storage
Caerphilly backup, archive and storage developer Object-Matrix has teamed up with German peer Archiware on a Mac-based backup app targeting the creative industries.
Nick Pearce-Tomenius, co-founder of Object-Matrix, said new content in the creative sector was generally file-based rather than on tape.
“Creative organisations have to store and manage hundreds of terabytes of data, and rarely have the in-house IT expertise,” he said.
The duo have developed a single, centralised application for consolidating, storing and securing files such as photos, posters or video. Video production, media and creative companies rarely have in-house IT people to manage their storage, he claimed.
Josef Doods, chief executive officer at Archiware, said the new product manages content backup of workflow, emails, documents and the like securely, allowing for easy retrieval by non-specialist staff.
The new product will be distributed by JPY.
