SmoothWall targets more VARs
Vendor wants resellers to help with move into web security and content filtering markets
Vendor SmoothWall is still looking to recruit more UK channel partners as it moves further into the web security and content filtering markets.
George Lungley, managing director of SmoothWall, said: “Firewalls, which used to be our core market, are becoming pretty commoditised, but web security and content filtering is still a very active area.
“We have two principle markets: the US and the UK. We are still keen to recruit partners in both markets.”
Lungley said SmoothWall had recently signed a partnership with IBM, which will see its software incorporated onto Big Blue’s rackmount servers.
“Firewalls have been appliance based for some time, and web security is moving in the same direction,” he said. “A lot of firms like the idea of buying a box. By partnering with IBM, we have access to its worldwide services support network.”
SmoothWall this week launched the latest version of its Corporate Guardian software.
David Morris, director at VAR Systeq Solutions, said: “The good thing about SmoothWall is that its products are totally scalable. If customer requirements change, we can change it. SmoothWall has great partner support and keeps development at the appropriate level.”
