Mayflex hails fresh markets

Distributor claims to have been boosted by strong networking and IP physical security markets

Distributor Mayflex has claimed increased revenue from networking and IP physical security and a recruitment drive is helping it beat the economic downturn.

Historically strong in the cabling infrastructure arena, Mayflex has broadened its horizons in recent years to include networking and IP physical security divisions.

Managing director Andrew Percival claimed the two divisions could account for 40 per cent of his company’s revenue by 2010.

“Customers have been very receptive to the IP physical security division and the UK market for CCTV is very buoyant,” he said.

Larger corporate cabling infrastructure projects had been affected by the credit crunch, Percival said, but this had been offset by demand in the retail space and public sector.

Mayflex has added seven new recruits over the last couple of months. Percival said: “We are establishing ourselves as a networking and physical IP distributor and we want business development people that can build relationships.”

Peripherals vendor Electrone entered the IP CCTV market earlier this year. Sales and marketing director Mike Buchanan said: “For cabling and networking guys it is a natural extension to their business.”
