National Geographic goes wild for Sony deal
Sony and partners to deploy advanced AV products worldwide, starting in flagship store
Roaring trade: Sony has secured a lucrative digital signage contract for the London store
Sony Professional and its partners have deployed a centrally controlled audiovisual set-up for a National Geographic store tipped to be the first in a global deployment.
Tim Potter, senior account manager for Sony Professional solutions, said it had begun rolling out more than 42 digital signage displays for the new 1,800sq m National Geographic Worldwide retail outlet in Regent Street, London.
“It is a complete solution,” Potter said. “It is significant for a retail store to take a whole range of technology from Sony in this way.”
Specialist dealers Total Audio, Electrosonic, Heston Apax and Digital Presence will be deploying Sony audio gear, video walls, security, digital signage and projectors, respectively.
The flagship London store will be followed by outlets in Singapore, Milan, New York, Istanbul and others. Sony hopes to land those deployments too, according to Potter.
Pere Matamales, chief executive of Worldwide Retail Store, said: “For a truly compelling customer experience we need the best technology to inform and entertain.”
