DNS Arrow sends channel into sleep mode

Software vendor 1E selects DNS Arrow to drive its NightWatchman offering into UK markets

Karayi: 1E NightWatchman can reduce energy bills by more than £26 per PC per year

Software vendor 1E has chosen distributor DNS Arrow to penetrate the UK market with its NightWatchman technology.

NightWatchmanprovides centralised control of PC power, meaning PCs can be put into a low-power state at the close of business and pulled out of sleep mode at the start of the working day.

Under the terms of the agreement, DNS Arrow will support 1E by providing sales, marketing and pre-sales support, as well as educational courses for resellers.

Yuri Pasea, divisional director of virtualisation at DNS Arrow, said: “1E NightWatchman complements not only our green information technology solution focus but also our enterprise-software partnerships.

“For resellers, 1E presents a fantastic opportunity to offer a highly effective power-management solution that seamlessly fits within an organisation’s existing infrastructure. The immediate returns that can be delivered by 1E NightWatchman is particularly compelling for users in the current economic climate.”

The vendor says NightWatchman provides resellers with an add-on sales opportunity, as a significant number of employees do not power down their PCs at the end of the working day. As a result, more than £300m of PC power is being wasted every year, according to 1E.

Sumir Karayi, chief executive of 1E, said: “We are very pleased to announce our partnership with DNS Arrow. With its specialist focus on data-infrastructure solutions and extensive channel reach, it was a clear partner of choice for us.

“Working together, we will help infrastructure resellers, including those providing core offerings from 1E customers such as Dell and Microsoft. 1E NightWatchman can reduce energy bills by more than £26 per PC per year, with an ROI of three to six months.”
