International Data Security shuts up shop
International Data Security (IDS) has been forced to cease trading after failing to agree further terms with its creditors and head off two writs.
According to Colin Bastable, reseller manager at McAfee, IDS?s estimated debts stood at #250,000, although the WC1-based company was already trading under Credit Voluntary Agreement (CVA).
Bastable said: ?IDS had a meeting with the referee over two weeks ago because it was in breach of the CVA. The referee then went to the bank, which closed it down.?
The reseller was issued with a second writ from McAfee for alleged copyright and trademark infringements (PC Dealer, 17 September). In reference to the two writs McAfee had issued, Bastable said: ?Our solicitor told us that IDS had simply ceased to instruct its solicitor.?
Former IDS technical director Mike Sanders, who this week set up Computer Security Technology (CST) with fellow ex-IDS operations manager Nigel Lewis, confirmed that the troubled reseller had ceased trading last week.
Sanders said: ?We had major debtors who didn?t pay us the money they owed us, therefore we couldn?t pay the creditors.? He said CST was keeping in contact with former IDS customers.
Mike Hill, product marketing director at Dr Solomon?s, which sold through IDS, said he was unconcerned about the collapse because of an agency agreement with the reseller.
