Creaven VAT trial date set for next year
Former Silicon director to appear at Blackfriar's Crown Court on 5 April 2005
A date has been set for the trial of company director Dylan Creaven, charged with an alleged 'missing trader' VAT fraud estimated at £162m.
The former director of components distributor Silicon Technologies Europe was released on bail earlier this year on condition that he report to Belgravia Police Station every day. He is due to appear at London's Blackfriar's Crown Court on 5 April 2005.
In June an application to have the trial dropped was dismissed.
Creaven was arrested in 2002 in a joint operation, codenamed Chipstick, by HM Customs, the Criminal Assets Bureau, Irish police and Irish Revenue Officers of Customs Enforcement.
