Interquad cuts six staff in reshuffle
Interquad's employment restructure continued unabated as the networking distributor axed six jobs following Ed Arnett's recent appointment as MD.
The job losses included Jason Chick, who was appointed director of consultancy just four weeks ago - the same time Arnett took on his present role (PC Dealer, 4 February).
Four sales executives were also axed from the distributor, and commercial director Neil Bassett, whose position was recently stripped of sales responsibility to concentrate on marketing, was made redundant.
Commenting on Chick's speedy departure, Arnett said: 'Having reviewed the situation when I arrived I felt the company was not ready to set up a significant consultancy division.'
He added: 'Jason and I sat down and agreed the job was not practically available to him - it was very amicable.'
However, a source said: 'Chick had been sold a job that did not exist and was promised things that didn't materialise.'
Arnett added the four sales executives lost their jobs by failing to reach targets: 'If people do not perform for the company, there is no place for them,' he said, although he refused to name employees.
The source said the job losses, announced to employees on 28 February, were making people unhappy. Arnett did not rule out more job losses and added: 'I do not have a reputation as someone who messes about. If things need to change then they need to change.'
The changes have come about following the integration of the services division of the company and a recent change of offices.
