Mayflex folds Overland into security portfolio
Distributor claims deal with storage vendor has already yielded IP closed-circuit TV customer wins
Cabling, networking and security distributor Mayflex has joined forces with vendor Overland Storage to offer its SnapServer range as part of its growing security portfolio.
The agreement has already landed Mayflex reseller partner Check Your Security a contract with the Southend NHS Trust.
Mayflex has been a partner of high-resolution IP network camera vendor Mobotix for the past three years. Overland announced a strategic, global alliance with Mobotix last year.
As a result of the alliance, Mobotix’s range of cameras now record to the SnapServer independently, with each SnapServer storage system supporting multiple cameras.
Martin Morris, physical security sales manager at Mayflex, said: “As we have been a Mobotix partner for some time now, we were crying out for a partnership like this Mobotix now has a preferred storage partner, which fits perfectly into our security portfolio.
“The IP CCTV industry requires a resilient storage system that can cope with large file sizes and provide high-quality images. The SnapServer fits well into this growing vertical.”
Morris explained the distributor recently secured a deal with Check Your Security, as an result of the distributor’s partnership with Overland.
“We have already sent the cameras to the reseller for its contract with the Southend NHS Trust and the storage products are due to be sent soon as the last part of the surveillance jigsaw,” he said.
Originating as an independent company, Snap has been passed from vendor to vendor since 1999, finally finding a home at Overland which acquired the business for $3.6m (£2.2m) last year.
David Spate, director of sales and marketing at Overland Storage, said: “Since video surveillance will be a focus area for Overland, our partnership with Mayflex is significant.”
