Magirus breezes into SolarWinds channel

IT management vendor appoints Magirus to carry its Orion and Profiler technology in 14 European countries

Christian Magirus: SolarWinds’ IT management solutions drop neatly into our existing portfolio of datacentric technologies

Distributor Magirus has added another datacentre technology to its portfolio in the shape of IT management specialist SolarWinds.

Magirus will carry SolarWinds’ full portfolio of network, application and storage management software in 14 European countries including the UK, where it joins incumbent Interactive Ideas.

The agreement comes on the heels of Cisco’s decision to appoint Magirus as a 'Specialty Data Centre Distributor' and also complements existing partnerships with EMC and VMware.

Chief operating officer Christian Magirus said SolarWinds’ Orion and Profiler technology would provide its 6,000 VARs with another piece of the datacentre jigsaw.

He said: “SolarWinds’ IT management solutions drop neatly into our existing portfolio of datacentric technologies. It offers resellers a powerful and affordable solution for managing the entire virtualised datacentre environment now, with the flexibility to manage cloud-based deployments in the future.”

Justin Endres, vice president of international sales at SolarWinds, added: “Magirus is an ideal, value-added distributor to assist with the growth of our Europe and the Middle East business given its focus on virtualisation, storage and networking technologies and extensive market presence.”

Mike Trup, managing director at Interactive Ideas, which was previously sole UK distributor for SolarWinds, appeared unruffled by the appointment.

“SolarWinds has been a good, growing business for us and Magirus is largely addressing a different market segment from us,” he said. “In terms of generating further awareness, this will have a positive effect.”
