IronPort launches Async 4.5
Email security vendor IronPort Systems has launched Async OS version 4.5, which it claims is its largest release in its five-year history. According to the vendor the software includes second-generation technology for stopping virus outbreaks, technology for handling bounce messages and carrier grade technology for managing global system deployments.
Spyware infections high
The UK had the third highest rate of spyware infections in the third quarter of 2005, according to global research conducted by security vendor Webroot Software. Only Thailand and the US had higher rates of infection. In addition, the research found that spyware is costing the UK as much as £445m in lost time and productivity, and computer repairs.
Fortigate 3600 passes test
Unified Threat Management (UTM) vendor Fortinet has announced that its FortiGate 3600 systems have passed UTM testing by independent security testing facility the NSS Group. The FortiGate-3600 enterprise security appliance, running Fortinet’s FortiOS 2.8 firmware, achieved the NSS Approved certification based on performance, reliability, security effectiveness and usability.
Tumbleweed rolls out firewall
Email security vendor Tumbleweed has launched MailGate Email Firewall 6.2. The software features anti-spam, anti-virus, policy management, outbound content filtering and encryption. It also features OpenPGP encryption, added support for multiple LDAP directories and enhanced clustering capabilities, the vendor claimed.
