Avaya rejigs PC voicemail software
Version 2.0 of enterprise-grade Modular Messaging launched
Avaya has launched version 2.0 of its Modular Messaging enterprise-grade voicemail software. The product allows up to 20,000 users to get to their messages from PCs and phones at home and work. It supports plug-ins for Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Notes, the two most popular groupware platforms.
"We see Modular Messaging 2 as a migration strategy for up to 100 million mailboxes," said Kieren Moore, Avaya's unified communications solutions director for EMEA. "We're targeting the old user base. It's got an improved user interface, web messaging, Microsoft compatibility and data migration tools."
Andre Westendorp, managing director for central and eastern Europe of reseller and ISV Connect, said customers tend to be demanding when buying more advanced messaging products.
"It's very important that Avaya brings all of the best parts of the old product over," he said. "We prize reliability and productivity, but it is also important that we are able to integrate with nearly every major PBX out there."
