Network joins PCA to beat EC rulings

The 23-strong indie buying group Network has joined the Personal Computer Association (PCA) to help fight off EC legislation on consumer warranties.

Crippling EC draft rulings recommend that the guarantees on consumer PCs should be extended to offer consumers a one-year right to free replacement of faulty goods and free repair over two years

"The PCA is doing what Nascr should have done three years ago," said Martin Briggs, finance director at Network. "When Nascr petitioned the Government over Sega's rental scheme they were safeguarding our interests.

The PCA has got good contacts at the DTI and generates ten times as much press as Nascr."
