Senetas debuts in UK security space
Australian encrpytion specialist acquires its way into the UK market
Land of opportunity: Senetas claims the UK is the world's second largest market for encryption products
Bullish Australian network security player Senetas is hoping to take the channel by storm after buying its way into the UK market.
Basingstoke-based encryption firm Focus Europe will become a wholly owned subsidiary of the Antipodean company on Monday. Henceforth, it will be known as Senetas Europe.
Three Focus executives will remain to spearhead the company's sales efforts: Gareth Jones, who will serve as general manager; Pete Smith, who will be manager of encryption solutions; and Graham Wallace, who takes the role of government accounts manager and product specialist. Jones revealed the firm would be selling direct and through the channel.
“Senetas offers a complete family of security solutions at the highest data throughputs across major network topologies," he said. "In our experience, Senetas also provides an unsurpassed level of technical capability in its design and engineering group, as evidenced by its ongoing achievement of rigorous international security accreditations for its hardware."
Senetas Europe is hoping to make a splash in the UK with its MonitorStream software-as-a-service offering. The service will provide real-time automated monitoring and aims to increase network capacity.
Based in Melbourne, Senetas is listed on the Australian Securities Exchange. Chief executive John DuBois claimed a UK presence would allow his firm to obtain a number of important security accreditations for its hardware products.
“This is a significant move for Senetas to have direct representation in the largest single market, apart from the USA, for our Layer 2 encryption products, " he said. "The team has experience in our encryption technology, as well as that of our competitors, and their blue chip customer base includes government, finance and enforcement agencies."
