Civica achieves PA-DSS accreditation

Reseller's public sector payment system is one of the first to be accredited with this standard

Civica has become one of the first in the channel to bag a specialist security accolade for its public sector payment systems.

The software reseller has achived Payment Application Data Security Standard (PA-DSS) compliance validation for both its ICON e-payments managed service and for local authorities to use in house. The validation was carried out by Trustwave, a provider of on-demand data security and PCI compliance solutions.

Civica’s ICON system allows local authorities to manage payments from all sources across all departments. Modular internet, intranet, phone and kiosk payment channels help authorities to reduce administration and labour intensive processes.

David Roots, managing director, local government at Civica, said: "Before we could achieve PA-DSS accreditation our systems had to be examined by security experts using strict criteria. Our ICON epayments applications offer local authorities throughout the UK the security and confidence in their transactions whether deployed with a managed service or as part of the council's own infrastructure."
