Light-fingered Ingram Micro worker gets 14 months

After four-year wait, former employee of broadliner sent down for stealing electrical goods in 2005 and 2006

Greenhood was sentenced to 14 months' imprisonment

A former employee of Ingram Micro has been jailed for stealing £160,000 worth of electrical goods when he worked at the distributor's Daventry centre between 2005 and 2006.

Nicholas Greenhood was originally arrested in 2006 for routing iPods and satellite navigation systems to his girlfriend’s home before selling them on, the Northampton Chronicle & Echo reports.

Greenhood made a full confession four years ago but the case was not followed up by Northamptonshire Police and the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) until January.

Sentencing Greenhood to 14 months’ imprisonment yesterday, Judge Richard Bray was critical of how the case was handled by the CPS.

“I bear in mind you were arrested for these offences in 2006 and the police, having arrested you, released you on bail, then they, or the CPS, forgot to issue a summons against you. And all this time you have been living in Milton Keynes,” he was quoted as saying by the newspaper.

"There has to be a custodial sentence. This was a serious breach of trust. It would send quite the wrong message if I was not to impose such a sentence."
