Diboss exit leaves channel fuming

Resellers and customers of LCD monitor manufacturer Diboss have been left out in the cold over warranties, after the vendor pulled out of the UK market back in September.

One reseller, who asked to remain anonymous, told CRN: “We have had customers ringing us on a weekly basis, who have paid for three-year warranties, being told that the product they bought is no longer covered by a warranty.”
Diboss also worked closely with IT repair specialist RepairTech, which has also been left picking up the pieces following the firm’s sudden exit.
Richard Costello, managing director of RepairTech, told CRN: “RepairTech was a third-party independent service provider offering repair services to Diboss. We are not linked in any way to Diboss nor have we sold any Diboss units to any other party. We were offering services to Diboss for less than six months.”
Dainius Maciulis, a representative from Lithuania-based D.Boss Europe, which has taken over the Diboss brand, said: “Diboss UK was a distributor of Diboss LCD TVs in the UK market and had no direct relations with D.Boss (Korea). After Diboss UK closed, D.Boss decided to maintain the Diboss brand and took service responsibility. However the warranties are being discontinued because of the cost. Customers can still buy parts from us and can contact us directly.”
Diboss also previously worked with Micro Peripherals in the UK, but the distributor was unavailable for comment at the time of going
to press.
