SMEs can now afford telepresence technology
Telepresence vendor Lifesize has responded to Tandberg’s recent high end telepresence launch by creating an affordable telepresence solution for resellers to offer SMEs.
Lifesize has created a product bundle, to be distributed by Touchline Video, comprising three Lifesize cameras, three codecs and a Lifesize conference phone.
With the addition of three 60in high-definition (HD) monitors and a 50in HD data monitor, this is a match for the Tandberg offering at a fraction of the price, claimed Lifesize country manager Ray Kenny.
“It is a more affordable price, but still offers a large margin,” he said.
Since a typical telepresence offering could cost from £25,000, said Barry Cross, managing director of Touchline Video, the channel needs to extend the horizons for this technology beyond the banking sector and global enterprises.
Smaller businesses can now afford telepresence technology, he claimed. He added that this will also allow enterprises to upgrade their videoconferencing systems more cost effectively.
“Many big companies might have already invested in boardrooms, so they do not want to ditch that investment to have to refit an entire telepresence suite,” Cross added.
