Galtec boosts AV unit with addition of former Bullet Point execs

Reseller snaps up former Bullet Point account managers for growing audiovisual department

VAR Galtec Solutions has strengthened its audiovisual (AV) unit with the recruitment of two account chiefs.

Andrew Nelson and Mark Gourley have joined the VAR as AV account managers in the wake of the demise of their previous employer, AV reseller Bullet Point (CRN, 19 June).

Galtec recently predicted it will achieve 400 per cent growth this year and claimed turnover will exceed £6.6m in 2006 (CRN, 17 July).

Mark Adams, managing director of Galtec, told CRN: “Nelson and Gourley headed up an AV team at Bullet Point and were at the sharp end of Bullet Point’s achievements.

“We are focusing on bandwidth products, using Polycom for video-conferencing, Swyx for voice over IP and OneLan for digital signage. AV carries good margin and can be added to all of these technologies.”

Nelson said: “There is a good feeling at Galtec. There is such a wide portfolio of products that you can offer customers a complete solution. I want to be part of a company that is going places.”

Commenting on Bullet Point’s demise, Nelson said the VAR had placed all of its focus on the education market and had suffered when that market slowed down.

Darren Lewitt, divisional director at AV distributor Midwich, said: “Nelson and Gourley would have built up some AV contacts from their time at Bullet Point. In its time, Bullet Point was successful and they will be looking to take the positives out of that experience.”
