Macromedia takes on CU

Computers Unlimited to be sole Macromedia UK distributor following Unipalm split

Macromedia has appointed Computers Unlimited (CU) as the sole UK distributor of its high-end servers following its split with Unipalm.

The appointment means CU will distribute all Macromedia products. Last week Unipalm ended its relationship with Macromedia, citing an inflexible attitude from the vendor and credit concerns.

Fiona Coughlan, managing director of Macromedia Northern Europe, said: "Unipalm is security focused and excels in that area, but we were a smaller part of its business and did not get the focus we needed. We have had a long-standing relationship with CU and our brand is valuable to the firm."

James Sanson, chief executive of CU, said: "We have a long history with Macromedia and have appointed two dedicated high-end experts to assist Vars and their customers."

Mark Norman, managing director of Unipalm, said: "We had been focusing on [Macromedia's] product, but the inflexibility of the company and slow response times meant we couldn't continue the relationship."
