Visioprime eyes reseller recruits for UK market offensive

Surveillance vendor targets 12 additional VARs following acquisition by Centerprise International

Intelligent video surveillance vendor Visioprime – part of Centerprise International – is looking to recruit a dozen resellers across the UK over the next 12 months.

The seeds for Visioprime’s intelligent video management systems were sown more than 10 years ago with a video compression project at the University of Hertfordshire. Incorporated in 2000, Visioprime initially focused on developing intelligent video recorders. The company was sold to the Novar Group in 2002, which was then acquired by Honeywell in 2005. Earlier this year, Centerprise bought Visioprime from Honeywell.

Tim Northwood, head of sales at Visioprime, told CRN: “Centerprise has always assembled our products for us, so it seemed a natural progression for Centerprise to step in and buy us from Honeywell. The move has enabled Visioprime to come out of the shadows of Honeywell. We’re moving to Centerprise’s HQ in Basingstoke which means everything will now be manufactured on site.”

Centerprise is also moving Adam Continuity, the disaster recovery firm it bought last year, to its HQ.

“We do not sell direct: we sell only through resellers,” Northwood added. “We have about eight certified Visioprime Integration Partners, but we’d like another dozen. Most of our partners are system integrators: they will install the products and offer services to customers. Some of our partners have a background in security, but we’d take VARs with networking skills too.”

Rob Bamforth, principal analyst at Quocirca, said: “By adding Visioprime’s intelligent video technology into monitoring applications, VARs will have an interesting proposition to offer customers.”
