Willow Starcom bets on Tandberg for Stanley International
Networking and storage VAR supplies automated storage solution for online betting firm's European offices
The data automated storage solution has been implemented in the betting firm's Liverpool headquarters and several remote offices across Europe
Storage reseller Willow Starcom has installed an automated data storage system for online sports provider Stanley International Betting.
The system has been implemented at its main UK-based IT department and several remote offices across Europe.
The Lancashire-based VAR deployed an automated storage system to decrease the betting organisation’s backup window and replace its Overland tape autoloader, which the company had outgrown through expansion.
Stanley International Betting’s head office is in Liverpool, with its datacentre located in Malta, and is therefore regulated by Maltese gaming and security laws.
In addition, the company has remote offices in Brussels, Croatia and Romania, supporting more than 15,000 Stanley personnel and agents in total.
Willow Starcom proposed two Tandberg Data StorageLibrary T40s – one residing in Malta with an LTO-3 SCSI drive and one in Liverpool with two LTO-3 fibre drives for simultaneous backup of head office functions.
For its remote offices the VAR recommended three Tandberg Data LTO-2 HH rack mount drives. The sites are connected by a virtual private network, with BakBone NetVault backup software being served by a mix of Cisco, HP and QLogic switches.
Of its new storage solution, a Stanley International Betting representative said: “The regulations are tighter than any other industry, and in such a competitive market, any loss of service can mean that we can lose a competitive advantage. But it can be challenging overcoming international time zones and other infrastructure issues.
“The Tandberg Data StorageLibrary T40s provide Stanley International with a belt-and-braces fail-safe system that does not leak data.”
