Siemens chief poised to strengthen channel

Vendor appoints Leon Mangan as new sales director to oversee channel activity

Siemens Enterprise Communications has appointed a new sales director for the indirect channel who plans to strengthen the vendor’s channel focus and recruit new partners over the coming months.

Leon Mangan has rejoined Siemens after a spell at reseller Charterhouse Voice and Data. He previously worked at Siemens for seven years, including two years as head of SME sales for the UK. Mangan replaces former sales director of Siemens’ indirect channel, Paul Morgan, who has stepped down from the role.

Mangan, said: “Eighteen months ago Siemens announced a strategy to migrate its sub-1,000 employee business to a 100 per cent indirect model. We are still in the process of completing the migration, but have made strong inroads. My remit is to provide an increased focus and grow Siemens’ partner base.”

To date the vendor has 40 direct partners in the UK as well as traditional voice and data resellers who buy from its three distributors: MTV Telecom, Nimans and Rocom.

Richard Carter, managing director of Rocom, said: “We have been selling Siemens systems for 15 years now – it is one of our key brands. We have 90 accredited Siemens VARs, but are working with Siemens to increase this number.”

Jim Robertson, commercial director at MTV Telecom, said: “We have seen a lot of changes at Siemens – it has been much happier to work with distributors. We work with between 30 and 50 resellers on Siemens, but are finding that many more are now looking to add the vendor to their portfolio.”
