Sony cuts ties with Micro-P
Departure means C2000, Imago and Midwich will handle vendor's projector sales
Sony has marked the end of its projector distribution channel review by terminating relations with Micro Peripherals (Micro-P).
Last month the electronics giant split with Steljes and appointed Computer 2000.
Raj Pandya, general manager for business-to-business channels at Sony, told CRN: “We have been analysing our projector business for the past four months.
“Our key focus is to grow the volume side of our projectors. Our split with Micro-P was very amicable. Micro-P was very honest and said it did not feel that we were both going in the same direction. However, the door will always be open for Micro-P if things were to change.”
The departure of Micro-P leaves C2000, Imago and Midwich handling Sony’s UK projector sales.
Stuart Mizon business manager at Midwich, said: “For Sony to increase its volume business it needs a concentrated push on its low- and mid-range projectors. We will work with Sony to deliver the numbers it needs.”
Micro-P refused to comment as CRN went to press.
