Wick Hill steps up as Finjan parts with Noxs
Security vendor revamps distribution model by strengthening relationship with Wick Hill
Security vendor Finjan has shaken up its distribution model in the UK by appointing Wick Hill as its primary distributor, as well as parting company with Noxs.
CRN understands the vendor, which specialises in secure web gateway products, is winding down its partnership with Noxs and the two firms will cease working together later this month.
As primary distributor in the UK, Wick Hill, which has partnered with Finjan for some time, has been tasked with growing Finjan’s business in the region and providing training, marketing and support to add value to its reseller base.
Ian Kilpatrick, chairman of Wick Hill Group, said: “We will be going out to recruit further partners for Finjan as well as working closely with the existing Finjan partner base to drive its technology to the market.
“Finjan is increasing its investment in the UK and is looking for us to be a multiplier for it.”
Kilpatrick declined to comment on the vendor’s decision over Noxs and whether Finjan will look to recruit a replacement distributor for Noxs in the UK.
Tim Warner, UK country manager at Finjan, said in a statement: “Wick Hill has proved that it is able to assist VARs in the intricate and complex area of web security without Finjan’s direct involvement. It has taken the time to understand how Finjan’s technology is different and we see Wick Hill as an integral part of our channel development plans for the UK over the next 12 months.”
However, Finjan declined to comment on the split with Noxs.
Bernie Dodwell, European security manager at Westcon Group, which acquired Noxs earlier this year, was disappointed with the decision.
“Finjan has decided to consolidate its distribution portfolio in the UK,” he said. “I am disappointed that Noxs is not going to be working with it any more, but this is a decision taken by Finjan to focus its business through a distributor that has been very successful for it in the UK and can take the firm into new markets.
“We have an agreed disengagement strategy with Finjan and I wish Wick Hill every success.”
