HP helps channel tap mid-market cloud opportunity

Hardware giant points channel in direction of cloud with ten.to.one initiative

Tapping in: Midmarket cloud opportunity amounts to $7.5bn, HP claimed

HP has launched a new programme aimed at generating cloud computing opportunities for partners in the mid-market.

So called because it will target firms with 1,000 to 10,000 employees, the ‘ten.to.one’ scheme includes new software and partner programme enhancements.

It will be backed by a new organisation sitting within the HP Software and Solutions business unit called HP Commercial Solutions.

HP's ten.to.one is based on the premise that cloud computing is being adopted faster in the mid-market than among enterprises.

According to Forrester research carried out on behalf of HP last month, half of mid-sized enterprises are planning to implement cloud computing, compared with just 29 per cent of large enterprises.

HP said this amounts to a $7.5bn (£5.2bn) untapped opportunity for partners.

On the back of this, HP has developed new software including HP LoadRunner in the Cloud, a performance testing software solution which will be made available on demand with flexible, “pay as you go” pricing.

Forrester’s research also found that mid-sized enterprises are turning increasingly to the channel and ten.to.one includes marketing, training and social media resources for partners.

Jonathan Martin, vice president and general manager, Commercial Solutions, HP, said: “The unique needs of mid-sized enterprises have been under-served.

“Our software, services, partner programme, and sales and marketing organisations, along with our broad experience, will help our clients and partners achieve immediate and long-term success.”
