Interface puts sparkle into Sun's recruiting
Distributor sets goal of 100 new resellers on board within next year
John Taylor: Interface has seen a seven-fold increase in mid-market business
Distributor Interface is running a series of Sun Microsystems seminars with the aim of bringing 100 new VARs to market within the next 12 months.
Aiding Sun in its quest for mid-market business, Interface will support the vendor in driving three key messages: its Microsoft partnership; server and storage virtualisation; and general server and storage refreshes.
The seminars are being held in Linlithgow in Scotland, Birmingham, Manchester and London. Last week the Birmingham seminar attracted nearly 60 VARs.
John Taylor, Sun business unit director at Interface Solutions, said: “We have experienced a seven-fold increase over the last nine months in this space.”
Taylor said Oracle’s announcement to buy Sun for $7.4bn (£5bn) has enhanced the distributor’s recruitment drive.
He said: “We expect interest in the seminars to increase with the news which has gone down well with the channel. Sun has a strong x86 platform and we think we can help with its success.”
Clive Longbottom, service director at market watcher Quocirca, said: “Interface should be applauded for driving the message that Sun is not a company to be scared of anymore.”
