Lexmark nabs Microsoft man for large account push

Chris Baker joins printer vendor as UK and Ireland large accounts sales director after five years at Microsoft

Printer vendor Lexmark has poached Chris Baker from Microsoft to head up its UK large account business.

Baker joins directly from the software mammoth, where he spent five years in total and three in the post of UK director of financial services.

In his new role as Lexmark's UK and Ireland large accounts sales director, he has been tasked with driving the vendor's "print less, save more" message.

Baker said the current climate would necessitate a more tailored approach to printing solutions to help firms slash costs and hit green targets.

“Over the next year, the focus must be on leading sales from a solutions perspective,” he said. “We must show that we don’t only provide printers, we provide print solutions and managed print services to deliver tangible business benefits quickly – something that is becoming increasingly important as the recession takes hold.”
