Secure tightens bonds

Security vendor hopes to strengthen bonds with distributors

Mark Hatton: Sphinx has a strong relationship with Secure Computing

Secure Computing’s new UK and Ireland regional director has pledged to forge closer ties with distribution.

Kieran Lees has joined the security vendor from corporate reseller Computacenter, where he spent two years as unit director of networking and security.

Secure rationalised its UK distribution line-up two years ago, with just Bell Micro, Sphinx and IQ Sys remaining on board. Lees confirmed he was planning further changes.

“I see distribution not as a necessary evil but as an extension of my organisation,” he said. “It is very important that any messages coming from us around product are put through as seamlessly as possible, which calls for much tighter alignment with our key partners.”

Mark Hatton, chief executive of Sphinx, said: “Every vendor reviews its distribution line-up periodically, and Secure is going through this process now. Our relationship with Secure is very strong.”

Former UK and Ireland director Matthew Walker will now report to Lees in the post of regional strategic alliances director, where he will be responsible for recruiting more systems integrator partners.
“We needed someone of Matt’s experience to drive our relationships with SIs such as IBM, BT, Fujitsu and EDS,” explained Lees.
