Monte Carlo or bust for Wick Hill's Kilpatrick
Chairman of security distributor to begin four-day charity rally on Sunday
Fundraising fun: Kilpatrick is hoping to raise a considerable sum for the rally's chosen charities
Distributor Wick Hill is making novel use of vendor marketing funds as it prepares to dispatch its chairman on a four-day charity rally to Monte Carlo.
Accompanied by his wife Kirsty, Ian Kilpatrick will depart Guildford on Sunday in his Mark 1 Lotus Cortina. The pair will arrive in Monte Carlo on Thursday where they will be met by racing commentary kingpin Murray Walker OBE.
Kilpatrick's classic car is sponsored by Wick Hill vendors WatchGuard, Check Point and Kaspersky Lab.
He and the other 34 historic cars taking part in the Monte Carlo or Bust event are raising money for charities Help for Heroes, the Teenage Cancer Trust, National Osteoporosis Society and the Mara Rianda Primary School.
He said: “We’re really looking forward to an amazing drive in our 1964 Lotus Cortina, the same type of car that competed in the Monte Carlo rally in its era. The route is going to be both incredibly stunning and challenging for the car, but we’re looking forward immensely to the experience, and to sharing it with our fellow competitors.
“At the same time, we’re hoping to raise a considerable sum for the chosen charities. Anyone wanting to support our efforts and these worthwhile causes can do so by visiting www.justgiving.com/monte-carlo-or-bust. We’ll be keeping everyone informed of our progress on Twitter and YouTube.”
