Vasco plugs in Novell authentication system
Vendor claims service will create easy upgrade sales for channel
Security vendor Vasco has launched a plug-in for Novell's Modular Authentication Service (NMAS) systems, which it has claimed will create upgrade sales through the channel.
Version 3 of Vasco's Digipass Plug-In for NMAS includes bulk management features, additional logging features and Novell BorderManager 3.8 support. Vasco security is aimed particularly at e-businesses.
"The new version of Digipass Plug-In for Novell NMAS will allow us to gain more market share worldwide," claimed Jan Valcke, president of Vasco.
Jochem Binst, Vasco's European marketing manager, said the vendor's partners have a huge advantage in selling to Novell users because its technology is integrated natively in NMAS, meaning no extra authentication server has to be installed.
"It is literally a plug-in. This means Vasco resellers that sell NMAS can use our product for added value when selling into NMAS environments. They can also sell it to customers with an existing Novell environment as a strong authentication add-on," Binst said.
The bottom line, he added, is resellers can create revenue with easy sales and installation.
Vasco and its UK distributor Wick Hill have already allocated funds for a marketing campaign to help resellers. "The distributor receives five per cent marketing budget from Vasco on the total of the Novell sales to invest in marketing," Binst said.
Ian Kilpatrick, chairman of Wick Hill, said: "Vasco doesn't reveal margins. It's good for accredited resellers, and the chance to sell these tokens in volume is an attractive proposition."
