Channel secures GeoTrust growth

GeoTrust looks to ramp up its worldwide partner base

Identity verification vendor GeoTrust has attributed its 88 per cent UK growth over the past year to its reseller channel, as it looks to ramp up its worldwide partner base.

The firm, which issues digital secure socket layer certificates for web security to enterprise customers, counts VeriSign as its biggest rival, and is looking to boost its share to half of the marketin the next 18 months.

Steve Waite, marketing director at GeoTrust, said: “We have 32 per cent market share, as a third of all sites use GeoTrust encryption certificates. But we are looking to take on new partners that can help us build on our brand across Europe.”

Waite said the firm’s route to market is split three ways: retail, reseller and enterprise. “We prefer to work with resellers that have direct access with customers, rather than customers that deal directly with us,” he added.

Dillan Smith, support manager at GeoTrust reseller HostingUK, said the vendor is a reliable partner.

“If we have problems with a certificate and need to speak to GeoTrust, there is always someone there who knows how to provide the necessary support. They can also always provide a certificate on the same day, which is vital in our industry,” he said.
