SMEs add up to VAR opportunity
Accountancy vendor reveals new software to help small businesses save money
Resellers are still missing out on an opportunity to save SME customers money, according to accountancy software vendor MYOB.
The firm, which last year commissioned research by Vanson Bourne that showed 43 per cent of SMEs do not use any accountancy software packages (CRN, 4 July), said SMEs can still save up to £250 if they fill in their end of year PAYE forms online this year.
“With around 150,000 new SMEs starting a year, and a serious number of existing SMEs still not using accoun-ting software, this is a great opportunity for the channel,” said Simon Smith, general manager at MYOB.
“The message we are trying to give through our channel is that there are ways of being more efficient and saving money if you are a small business and they need to make use of the tools that are out there,” he said.
The vendor has this week launched Version 15 of its business management software Accounting and Accounting Plus, and announced that it is gearing to launch a point of sale product called RetailBasics next month.
Smith said the vendor is keen to recruit additional resellers and is offering a range of incentives, including a 30-day money back guarantee.
“We are always on the look out for resellers that want to sell our products, and we believe that the channel is the best route to market,” he said, adding that the firm has recently appointed a new European managing director to guide its channel push.
Michael Breeze, marketing manager at distributor Interactive Ideas, said: “Traditionally MYOB has had a lot of success in the Mac space, but now we are seeing more and more people using its offerings in a Windows environment as well. [MYOB] are certainly investing more in marketing and increasing end-user brand awareness which is a good thing.”
