CA strengthens cloud offering through Nimsoft deal

Software vendor follows up 3Tera buyout with another cloud-based acquisition

CA hopes to add weight to cloud offering through Nimsoft deal

Software vendor CA has snapped up rival firm Nimsoft as part of its quest to establish itself as a major cloud player.

The vendor said the $350m (£232m) deal would help it cater better to managed service providers (MSPs) and emerging enterprises with an interest in cloud-based technologies.

This latest acquisition follows on from CA’s buy out of cloud computing specialist 3Tera last month.

Chris O’Malley, executive vice president of CA’s cloud products and solutions division, said: “With our planned acquisition of Nimsoft, CA will be equipped to capture several important growth market segments and the MSPs who are providing these customers with IT management services via the cloud.”

Gary Read, chief executive and president at Nimsoft, said CA would benefit from his firm’s experience in providing hosted and managed services to mid-market enterprises.

He added: “CA clearly shares our commitment to address customers’ evolving requirements for the management of their IT systems, including their move to virtualisation and the cloud.”
