RTW plays host to RES Software

Vendor teams up with hosting provider to improve remote desktop user experience

Khan: Hosting in a small, but growing part of the market

Workspace management vendor RES Software has gone into partnership with remote desktop provider RTW Hosting.

The newly-forged union will see the two firms join forces to help make the migration from on-premise to cloud-based and hosted desktop services as smooth as possible for end users.

Ronnie Khan, UK country manager for RES Software, said his firm’s contribution to the partnership means that RTW customers will be able to preserve their on-premise desktop settings for use in a hosted environment.

“End users do not care who or how their desktop is being delivered," said Khan. "What matters to them is that the workstation they have is functional and familiar.”

“When end users make the move over to a hosted environment, the most important thing is that the user experience they are used to is maintained, so that they can get on with their work and be productive.”

Mike Wills, chief executive at RTW Hosting, said: “Using RES Software as a key part of our integrated hosted desktop service means that we can provide our customers with a hosted desktop that performs as efficiently as a local PC and replicates the environment end users have been used to.”

Khan confirmed that RES is in discussions with a number of other hosting providers about partnering with them.

“RTW is our first hosting provider partner and we are in the process of teaming up with others,” said Khan. “We have never looked at hosting before, but, although the potential market is small, it is a growing part of the industry.”
