Netgear rings changes with Bell appointment

Bell Micro to focus solely on traditional reseller market for Netgear

Netgear has made the first addition to its UK distribution line-up since 2003 by appointing Bell Micro to carry its range of ProSafe business products.

In contrast to its tier-one distributors, Computer 2000, Ingram Micro and Micro Peripherals – which also sell to direct marketing resellers, retail and e-commerce – Bell will focus solely on the traditional reseller market.

Bell will add Netgear to its Active Framework programme, which is designed to give VARs a leg-up into the networking market.

Mark Power, managing director of Netgear UK and Ireland, said: “We want to get into resellers that have shied away from selling networking because they’ve lacked internal experience and knowledge.

“Through Active Framework, Bell will go on-site to provide pre-sales support and support installation,” he said.

Ed Callacher, networking divisional manager at Bell, emphasised that the distributor would push Netgear as a “value option”.

“Allied Telesis is its closest competitor, but it doesn’t have the brand awareness of Netgear,” he said.
