PCSL prevents breaches of PC

Security solution provider PCSL has started shipping a Windows 95 version of its Stoplock security software.

The package is designed to deliver enterprise-wide security solutions.

The company believes the program will also attract standalone PC users.

Griff Wasan, PCSL product manager, said that Stoplock will be used as part of a security solution, offered through its reseller network.

'We've built in as many facilities as possible and made it as user friendly as possible for a security product,' he said.

The company hopes to recruit resellers, provided they already have a security background. 'It's important that resellers have an understanding of issues outside the product,' Wasan said.

For PCs still containing files in Windows 3.x and Dos, the product can be configured with Stoplock V.

Stoplock 95 protects programs and data on a PC from threats such as theft, virus attack, misuse or damage by controlling who has access to a PC and its components on a per-user, group or global basis.

Other features include boot protection to prevent booting from the floppy drive, trusted login at boot up, setting up access rights and restriction on drives, directories and files, and an encrypted auditing file, for tracing purposes. Automatic file encryption protects sensitive data, and disk-level encryption is supported by extended boot protection.

Stoplock 95 is priced at #165 for a single-user licence, with upgrades available free for existing users.

The Windows NT version of the package is scheduled to ship next year.
