ANS claims Buying Solutions UCS first
NHS contract win means VAR is first to deploy Cisco UCS technology under government IT procurement framework
Paul Sweeney: It is great to see Tameside leading the way in public sector
Reseller ANS Group claims it has clinched the first Unified Computing System (UCS) contract under the Buying Solutions IT Commodity framework.
The Manchester-based VAR was named as a winner in the infrastructure hardware category of the government IT procurement framework in February.
The contract will see ANS deploy its converged IT Infrastructure 3.0 architecture, which features Cisco’s UCS technology, at Tameside Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Lancashire.
The deployment makes Tameside the first Foundation Trust in England to make use of Cisco’s UCS technology and forms part of a wider site improvement initiative taking place at the hospital.
Tony Mellor, chief information officer at Tameside Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, said the Infrastructure 3.0 technology will help to simplify and maximise the efficiency of its IT systems.
Mellor said: “ANS Group’s extensive knowledge and understanding of the healthcare sector was evident during the tender process, making it the obvious choice as a strategic partner.”
Paul Sweeney, managing director at ANS Group, added: “It is great to see that Tameside Hospital is leading the way in the public sector by deploying a high-density efficient infrastructure to enable environmentally friendly, cost-effective technology.”
