AMD partners boosted by AVS extension plans
Components giant broadens the range of products covered by its validation programme
AMD is aiming to keep its channel partners happy by extending the number of products covered by its Validated Solutions Programme.
The AMD Validated Solutions (AVS) Programme for system integrators guarantees that key system components, such as motherboards, from partner companies are tested, validated and supported after delivery. AMD has added more vendors, support for Opteron processor-based 1P server motherboards and an advanced motherboard exchange service to the programme.
System integrators can now choose from 10 motherboard platforms, including eight commercial desktop motherboards and the two new 1P server motherboards. Super Micro Computer and Tyan Computer are the latest platform providers on the AVS vendor line-up, joining the likes of Asus, ECS, Gigabyte and MSI.
AVS system integrator members at Platinum and Gold levels will be automatically upgraded to next-business-day exchange service. All member-level partners will be upgraded to a two-business-day advanced exchange programme for motherboards from their previous return merchandise authorisation (RMA) level. AMD will offer all members the chance to upgrade to next-business-day return service for a “small fee”.
Stephen DiFranco, corporate vice president of sales and marketing at AMD, said: “AMD understands that channel partners want consistency, predictability and stability from every one of their solution providers and the technologies they deliver to their customers. These new offerings from AMD support the channel ecosystem by making it easier and more profitable for partners to integrate reliable solutions while differentiating their solutions based on AMD technology.”
Russell Carlisle, vice president of marketing at system builder ZT Systems, said: “When selling into commercial SME and vertical sectors, a high level of support is crucial. The addition of 1P server motherboards combined with the advanced motherboard exchange service increases the value of AVS and provides us and our customers with further peace of mind.”
AMD also unveiled the Athlon 64 X2 dual-core processor 6400+ Black Edition, aimed at gaming and PC builder enthusiasts.
Frank Azor, senior vice president of Alienware’s worldwide product group, said: “Alienware desktop systems based on the AMD Athlon 64 X2 dual-core processor 6400+ Black Edition can push the limits of computing by providing our customers with access to extraordinary power, improved platform longevity and superior entertainment capabilities.”
