Gamma Global plots European expansion
Manchester-based distributor announces plans to launch in Germany, the Netherlands and the UAE
Martin Smith: There is no substitute for having business managers on the ground locally
Manchester-based distributor Gamma Global claims it is on course to generate more sales from the continent than the UK in 2010 as it prepares to launch in three more countries.
The HP, IBM and Cisco distributor already has feet on the street in Milan, Paris, Madrid and Warsaw but has announced plans to open sales offices in Germany and the Netherlands.
It is also eyeing a move into the United Arab Emirates as part of its plans to “truly internationalise” the business.
The expansion comes as Gamma Global celebrates its 20th year in business. Founded in 1990, the firm underwent a management buy-out in 2002 led by managing director Martin Smith.
Smith said: “Experience has shown that it is much easier to do business when there is a local support infrastructure in place.
“There is no substitute for having business managers on the ground locally, that understand regional market conditions, how business is conducted and who speak the language. This strategy will therefore continue to drive our international expansion in 2010 and beyond.”
70-strong Gamma Global has a turnover of £56m and claims to work with 1,500 resellers, with five new customers coming on board every day.
“Our achievements over the past couple of decades can only make us optimistic about the future for the company,” said Smith.
