Seagate Recovery eyes more European VARs

Seagate Recovery Services is expanding its network of VARs throughout Europe. Currently, the vendor has 30 VARs and aims to recruit 70 more over the next six months.

The declaration follows the launch of its broad-spectrum data recovery SuperLab facility in Amsterdam last month.
Kellogg Fairbank, business development manger for the UK and Ireland at Seagate Recovery Services a unit of hard-drive vendor Seagate said: “Seagate Recovery Services wants to put more focus into its channel and partner programme. It has been looking at the market from a different angle and figuring out what partners really want.
“One area in which Seagate Recovery Services is focusing is digital recovery because more people
are putting material online, which needs to be protected. Digital recovery is clearly becoming more important to people.”
Fairbank said Seagate Recovery Services offers training to its partners and end users either face to face or via its online partner portal. “Through training, Seagate wants to boost its channel involvement, which already stands at 70 per cent. It only spends its marketing budget on the channel as it is more important,” he said.
Andy Cusack, managing director of existing Seagate Recovery Services partner Q-tron UK, said: “Q-tron did consider looking for a different firm, but Seagate recently came out on top for our company. One of Q-tron’s customers had a big emergency and Seagate recovered the disks quickly and without much fuss.”
Cusack added: “Q-tron would be confident in pushing Seagate’s service into the market.”
