InTechnology expands LANnet in services push
Distributor's network coverage is increased by 100 per cent and covers an extra 30 cities
Distributor InTechnology has continued its managed services push by extending its LANnet network to cover 90 per cent of UK businesses.
LANnet connects users with InTechnology’s data centres, allowing them to access a range of managed services, such as automated off-site data backup and IP telephony.
InTechnology’s LANnet coverage has now increased by 100 per cent and covers 30 more UK cities, including Southampton and Cambridge.
Bryan Sharp, business product manager at InTechnology, said the firm wanted to boost its managed services presence on the south coast.
“The increased reach of our network is a natural progression to match the geographic demand for our managed services,” Sharp said.
“As a managed services provider, we have always been keen to deliver to as many clients as possible. We have relationships with all of the major telcos, which gives us the ability to provide connectivity.”
Sharp added that InTechnology works mainly direct to the end-user when providing managed services, but it also works through partners.
“We have partners that pass opportunities to us and partners that look to add their own services,” he said. “If there are other VARs that can add value to our offering, it would be worth us working with them.”
Sharp added that InTechnology will continue to work towards gaining an extended UK network to provide managed services to a larger remit of potential clients.
Scott Dobson, managing director of voice over IP distributor Vcomm, said: “InTechnology has come from a distribution model and repositioned itself to provide managed services. It is unusual for a company of that size to be able to make a move such as this so quickly.”
Dobson said InTechnology’s move towards a managed service model is a sensible plan providing it has gained the relevant skills set to flourish.
“InTechnology is coming from a distribution model and services are not the primary role of that type of business,” he added.
