Mobile firm moves towards data market
Anglia Telecom merges with Phone Direct and Ventelo
Mobile telecommunications distributor Anglia Telecom has merged with Phone Direct and Ventelo and revealed plans to beef up its data business.
The new Telecommunications Group (TTG) company will still trade as Anglia in the UK.
Graham Pollard, chief executive of TTG in Benelux, said: "We are looking to talk more to data than voice providers. We are also talking to BT about wholesale deals for DSL."
The company plans to offer Blackberry email devices, Vodafone's Locate-U's GPRS cards and tracking service.
Nick Evans, business manager for mobility at data reseller IT Partnerships, said: "If distributors can put the costs [of data] into an easy-to-understand format, people would jump on it."
