Montanana admits to being in talks
Jens Montanana has admitted to being in talks with Data Translation, following a report in last week's PC Dealer that Data Translation Networking is for sale.
Sources said that Montanana, CEO of South African networking distributor Data Tec, and his 'bean counters' were in and out of DT Networking all last week, examining its accounts.
'There have been numerous meetings,' said one source. 'We think Montanana's bid will be accepted. DT Networking's management would be happy if he bought the company.'
Montanana denied being in the UK and said: 'We are speaking to Data Translation, but we are not in meetings.'
The company's management team were at an off-site meeting on Friday.
When asked if the meeting was with Montanana or any of his representatives, marketing manager Steve Lockie said: 'It would be unfair to comment on any of the parties involved.'
PC Dealer revealed last week that Montanana and ETC were among those in talks to buy DT Networking from its US parent Data Translation.
