Autonomy outlines CA acquisition plans
Vendor announces buyout of CA's information governance division
Deal will see Autonomy take on two of its rival's product offerings, as well as its staff
Infrastructure software vendor Autonomy has announced plans to purchase CA Technologies’ information governance business.
The acquisition will see Autonomy incorporate CA’s email management Message Manager and Records Manager software into its portfolio, with the company pledging ongoing technical support for both products.
Neil Araujo, chief executive of Autonomy iManage, said the deal, which is expected to close in the third quarter of this year, will help to cement the vendor’s position as an end-to-end information governance supplier.
He added: “With the importance of transparency, regulatory oversight and consumer advocacy at an all-time high, the need for an end-to-end solution for information governance has never been stronger.
“The combination of [the two firms] will further strengthen Autonomy’s solutions for the legal, regulatory and investigative markets.”
Autonomy has also agreed to take on employees from CA Technologies’ Information Governance division to help ease the firm’s existing customers through the transition.
Jacob Lamm, vice president for strategy and corporate development at CA, said: “This deal works for both CA Technologies and Autonomy and, most of all, for the customers of CA Records Manager and CA Message Manager, who will continue to have access to leading-edge information governance products.”
